Hall Hire Information

The Yarralumla Uniting Church has two main halls and a central adjoining kitchen which are available for hire on a regular or ad-hoc basis. There is a third basement hall which is set up for childrens play groups. The two main halls are currently used by a number of regular hirers as well as some groups which use the facilities on an ad-hoc basis. Regular users of our facilities include: choirs, flower arrangement groups, folk dancing clubs, yoga classes, low impact exercise / movement classes, indoor bowls and childrens play groups. Some of these groups use the facilities during the day, while others meet regularly one evening a week. External groups / associations also use our facilities for AGMs / community meetings / weekend workshops / seminars.

Availability

Both main halls are booked most Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (during term time). Individuals or Groups seeking to hire our facilities should, in the first instance contact Willem Kok at 044 922 7117 or by email at hbm.yuc@gmail.com

Dimensions and Capacity

The dimensions of the main halls are: 18m by 7m, and 9m by 7m. Both halls are air conditioned and both are equipped with pianos. Tables and chairs are available for functions and self catering using the adjoining kitchen could accommodate some 100 standing or 80 seated (large hall) or 80 standing or 60 seated (small hall).

User Agreement and Insurance

Hirers are required to sign a User Agreement to formalise the hall booking. The hall booking manager will customise the user agreement for each hirer. Hirers must also hold public liability insurance for a minimum amount of $10 million. Ad-hoc hirers who do not have their own cover can use The Uniting Church in Australia Public Liability Insurance policy. The premium for a single event is $50.

Fees

Hall hire fees are an hourly rate of $31 per hour from 1 January 2016 ($30 until the end of 2015). Ad-hoc booking fees are negotiated by the Hall Booking Manager on a case by case basis and are normally in the range of $150-$250 for a three-four hour charitable activity requiring the use of the kitchen. Commercial organisations will be charged a higher fee in the range $400-$500 for three-four hours.

Hiring of the premises for retail or other commercial purposes unrelated to church activities is not permitted under the terms of our Territory Leases.
